Walt Okon's Team Building Course

If you were trained in your Toastmasters office last summer, you can get TLI credit for your club by attending a “Super Saturday, Super Sunday event instead of core training at a TLI or Make Up TLI. Division F is sponsoring a 2 Hr. SS/SS event on October 20 at Noon to 2:00 in the Burke Library. Your instructor is Area F4 Governor, Walt Okon, ACG, and the topic is “Team Building”. This SS/SS event is being held the same day as the Pender Church full District-Sponored TLI, but provides a chance to spend a couple of hours learning something completely outside the range of course and elective offerings at the TLI, in a very convenient location, just South of Ox Road off of 7100, the Springfield Bypass. Please register in advance with Walt Okon (AreaF4Gov10@d27tm.org) but if you can’t register in advance, just show up and be amazed at Walt’s presentation. The flyer above is also on the (New!) US Clubs - the IRS 990-N electronic filing is now available on the IRS website, and we’ve put together a set of detailed instructions to help you meet the May 15 deadline. Missing this deadline has consequences.

The following legal and financial information is available for Toastmasters clubs, districts and individual members:

501(c)(3) IRS Group Exemption Letter (PDF)
Clubs, districts and individuals may need this letter to prove that we are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization – to open a bank account for a club or district, for example.
Note: The tax ID (EIN) number in this letter is not for individual clubs. Each club has its own EIN.

If your club doesn’t file form 990-N (the hard way or electronically) with the IRS every year, you could lose your status as a nonprofit organization. You can follow the links to learn the consequences if you want, but the gist of it is it doesn’t look pretty and trying to get it back is probably more complicated than you you want to mess with. It’ll be easier to get your club filed on time, and you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing you’ve done the right thing.

I just read an e-mail from our great neighbor District 36.  D36 wishes to announce that its TLI scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday, January 31 is POSTPONED DUE TO WEATHER.

 SUNDAY: TLI at USUHS is a “NO-GO!”

When a new date is secured it will be posted on the D36 website.
